New Park in Summerville: The park is being built in Pine Trace Natural Area off of Miles Jamison Road. The park is set to have two dog parks, a disc golf course, fishing piers, a camping area, playgrounds, a community garden, bike/pedestrian paths, and 5+ miles of trails. The project is expected to be completed sometime in 2023.

The International African American Museum: This new museum will be located at historic Gadsden’s Wharf, near the South Carolina Aquarium. One of its main features will be the Center for Family History – which hopes to aid museum-goers in learning about their ancestors. The center will also exhibit examples of family trees that have already been successfully constructed, including former First Lady Michelle Obama– who can trace her ties back to slavery here in South Carolina. There will be other features of the museum.

Old Towne Creek County Park: A new park coming soon to West Ashley. The 67-Acre park will be located at 1400 Old Towne Rd. by Charles Town Landing. There will be a one-mile walking trail, a park center, and public restrooms. Goers can expect historical elements of the area to be included in the park. The master plan included a playground and an overlook on Old Towne Creek.
