Lowcountry’s largest business expo to showcase over 175 businesses and organizations
In addition, an unprecedented number of government contracting agents assembling to provide small business access to public contracts.
NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – The Lowcountry’s largest business to business event, the North Charleston Business Expo, is set to showcase over 175 area companies and organizations on Thursday, March 22, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Charleston Area Convention Center. The event remains free of charge for all attendees. Now in its fourth year, the annual Business Expo offers the business community, from small business entrepreneurs to executives, an opportunity to network with local professionals, engage with exhibitors, and discover resources for business growth.
In addition to the 175+ showcased businesses, procurement departments from nearly twenty government agencies will be assembled for concentrated access to purchasing agents. Small business owners will have the opportunity to showcase their goods and services to many local, state, and federal government contracting agencies, as well as seek advice from several specialized small business resource agencies. No other event in the Lowcountry offers such reaching access to these individuals.
A few of the participants include: SPAWAR, US Department of the Interior, US General Services Administration, Charleston County Government, Charleston County School District, Charleston Water System, and more.
Assembling for the first time at an event, the Charleston Regional Business Journal will host four of the region’s top mayors, including Mayors Keith Summey, Will Haynie, Wiley Johnson, and Michael Heitzler, as part of the 2018 Power Series, for a thought-provoking panel discussion to kick off the Expo. The panel will discuss transportation, development, affordable housing, education, and our talent pipeline. Registration is required for luncheon participation, scheduled from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm.
At 3:00pm during the Expo, the North Charleston Procurement Department will host a free workshop for the City’s Small, Disadvantaged, and Minority Business Program. This program promotes free competition and equal opportunity. The workshop will inform businesses of the program’s benefits, eligibility criteria, how to apply, and ongoing participation.
A networking reception, made possible by Charleston County Economic Development, will immediately follow the Business Expo from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm, and offers an additional opportunity to interact with business representatives and entrepreneurs, as well as expo attendees in a relaxed environment.
