Come out to North Charleston Chamber of Commerce’s Lunch and Learn on February 13th from 11:30am-1:00pm. We will be discussing Emergency Preparedness and 2018 plans for the city of North Charleston.
Speaker: WILLIAM “BUTCH” BARFIELD is an Emergency Preparedness Coordinator at City of North Charleston. His responsibilities include the building and maintaining of a comprehensive Emergency Management Program in a thriving city of approximately one hundred thousand residents and more than twice that number of visitors that travel through our city daily. In addition to his primary duties, Butch is required to create and maintain strong relationships with City Departments, other local jurisdictions and the state and federal partners to better prepare the City of North Charleston to respond to “All Hazards” incidents. This strong relationship requirement is also a priority for Butch and the City of North Charleston as it pertains to our citizens and business partners. Prior to assuming his current role, Butch served as a police officer for the City of North Charleston where he retired at the rank of Deputy Chief in December of 2012 after serving 30 years. In addition, Butch has been involved in the response for numerous weather related disasters since assuming his role. Butch has been married to Laurie Peek Barfield for 25 years and together they have one son, Brent which is a student soon to graduate from the Citadel. They are lifelong residents of North Charleston, S.C.
